Out of Bounds & Reset Rules
Scrap Superfights will reset athletes based on the situation when action goes out of bounds.
Referee discretion applies at all times.
🔄 Standard Positional Resets
If athletes go out of bounds in a stationary dominant position, they will be restarted in that same position in the center of the mat.
Examples include:
-
Mount
-
Back control
-
Side control
-
Closed guard
-
Half guard
If athletes go out of bounds during a scramble or transitional exchange, the match will be restarted standing.
⚠️ Submission Out-of-Bounds Rule
If athletes go out of bounds while a submission is actively being applied:
-
The match will be stopped.
-
Both athletes will be restarted standing.
This applies every time a submission goes out of bounds.
🛑 Important Notes
-
Referee discretion determines whether a legitimate submission attempt was in progress.
-
Repeated or intentional exits to escape submissions may result in warnings or penalties.
-
Referee decisions are final.
🏆 How Matches Are Judged
If no submission occurs, referees will determine the winner based on:
-
Submission Attempts
-
Dominant Positional Control
-
Overall Aggression & Forward Pressure
📊 What Scores Higher
-
Deep, legitimate submission attempts carry the most weight.
-
Submission attempts that put your opponent in real danger will always score higher.
-
Actively hunting finishes is rewarded.
Playing it safe or throwing weak, low-threat submission attempts will not score the same in the referee’s eyes.
⚠️ Important Notes
-
Smothering alone does not count as a submission attempt.
-
Referee decisions are final.

Injury Timeout and Forfeit Policy
If an accidental injury—such as an eye poke or accidental headbutt—occurs, the affected athlete will have a maximum of five minutes to recover. During this five-minute period, no coaching is allowed. Before the five minutes expire, the athlete must confirm their readiness to continue. If they do not make a clear decision or leave the mat at any point during this time, it will result in a forfeit.
